Why Gotham Home Services
If you have no heat in New York City, check the thermostat, power and filter, then call for service. Heat season runs October 1 through May 31 and owners must keep apartments at set minimum temperatures. Gotham Home Services repairs furnaces, heat pumps, PTAC heating and in-unit radiators, with dispatch at (516) 348-5145 and a written quote before approved work begins. Building boiler rooms and central plant equipment are outside our scope.

What we handle
Check the simple items first: thermostat mode and batteries, the breaker, the furnace switch and a clean filter. A system that starts and shuts off quickly may have a dirty flame sensor, a failed igniter or an airflow problem.
Heat pumps that stop heating in cold weather may be iced over, low on refrigerant or undersized for the home. In apartments, a PTAC or fan-coil may have a failed heating element, thermostat or control board.
Tenants whose whole building has no heat should report it to the owner and to 311. We handle unit-level equipment and the systems we repair ourselves, and we are clear about what is outside our scope.
Igniters, flame sensors, blowers, limit switches and control boards.
Defrost faults, reversing valves, outdoor fans and refrigerant leaks.
Heating elements, thermostats and control faults in apartment units.
Unit-level valves and radiator faults, excluding building boiler rooms.
